My name is Malcolm Bason, but I prefer to be called Malc. As of this year (2025) I am 70 years old. My passion for Photography began in my teens; in the 'old days' developing and printing my own black & white images. This passion continued, with the odd break here and there, up until the present day.

The only thing that nowadays holds me back is that I no longer drive. So I'm limited to areas I can walk, get a lift, or get a bus to.

I started off with 35mm film cameras (Practika, Cosina's CS3 & CT4, and a Pentax ME Super. I then had a break for a few years and purchased my first digital camera which was a Canon 2000D. I then continued to upgrade over the years, and then a few years ago I moved on to Mirrorless - always Canon, apart from a very brief spell with Sony, a camera which had buffering issues. So I switched back to Canon, the most recent being a R7. However, i wanted a full frame camera so a month ago (November 2025), I changed again to Sony, this time a top quality Alpha 7iv, which is a full frame Mirrorless Camera with 33 Mega Pixels. Some say it's a very complicated camera but it's not when you get used to it, besides, I like a challenge!
